Chapter Six
Phoenix didn’t know what to think. His boyfriend was a wolf? And a cop? Talk about a Prozac day. He wasn’t sure which fact freaked him out more.
“What did you mean by mate?” Phoenix had briefly wondered what Matt had meant when the guy had shouted the word out in the hallway, but after the little trick Matt had performed in front of him and Armando, that was the last thing on his mind. It couldn’t mean the same as real wolves, could it? Phoenix was no expert on wolves, or even dogs, but he knew a little something and he knew what a damn mate was, in the wild.
“I’ll explain it all to you when we take that drive. I was going to show you then, but your best friend made me come after him for stealing my mate,” Matt complained. “I swear, if he picks one more thing up to throw at me, I’m going to deck him again.”
“I think Armando is done having his fit,” Phoenix replied as he glanced at the door. He sure as shit hoped Armando was done. With his best friend, one never knew. “You do have to admit, you scared the shit out of both of us by changing into a wolf.”
“I guess,” Matt grumbled as his arms tightened around Phoenix. He wanted to groan knowing Matt was naked and holding him. Phoenix was dying to look at the man’s scrumptious body. He had sex with Matt last night, but the guy was totally nude and standing in his bedroom. Talk about a fantasy come to life.
Phoenix patted his palm on Matt’s broad and bare chest. “Okay. You can put me down now.”
“What if I don’t want to?”
Phoenix saw the heat in Matt’s hazel eyes. The man’s pretty eyes were blazing with desire, and it was all for him. He swallowed hard, feeling his cock filling out his jeans. “Fine.”
Matt grinned like he’d won and then carried Phoenix into the kitchen. God, how embarrassing. Phoenix wasn’t going to admit that he liked Matt treating him like this. The guy was already going overboard. But Phoenix wasn’t too happy that Armando had seen Matt naked.
Matt growled as he came to a stop and glared down at the floor. Phoenix turned his head to see that a bowl was placed on the floor with water in it.
“Armando! No you didn’t,” Phoenix yelled.
“Oh, yes, I did,” he called out as he emerged from his bedroom. “And he better be housebroken.” There was a smug smile on his best friend’s face as he crossed his arms over his massive chest. “I’m not cleaning up any urine if he has an accident.”
Matt’s chest rumbled as his arms tightened around Phoenix. “Fuck you, queeny.”
Armando snorted as he raked Matt with his eyes. “No thanks. I don’t do doggies, or cops.” Armando’s lips quivered and then a smile appeared, followed by laughter. Matt stiffened and then relaxed, chuckling as he shook his head.
This was so damn strange. Phoenix couldn’t believe Matt was standing in the middle of his kitchen, naked, arguing with Armando.
